If you’ve not yet created your business goals for the year – now is the time to do so. We’ve come up with 5 ways to help you achieve them.
1. Re-check your goals
Come up with your goals and write them down. Once written, look back through them and ask yourself why you think they are important and how they will contribute to moving your business forward in 2012. Knowing ‘why’ you are doing something will ensure that you stay motivated in achieving it.
2. Differentiate between long-term and short-term goals
Start by distinguishing your long-term goals from your short-term ones. Long-term goals should essentially portray the business aims you had when starting the business. Work out short-term goals for the year that will contribute to hitting your long-term goals.
3. Share your goals with your team
4. To say it means to do it
Once you've set your goals and shared them with your team, do them. Do not allow yourself or your team members to forget them. Have monthly catch-ups to see which developments have been made by each team member and work out what needs to be done in the next month to move things forward.
5. Don't give up
You might face unpredictable challenges along the way but at no point should you abandon your goals. Keep reminding yourself of why you set those targets in the first place and work as hard as you can in achieving them. Good luck!
