10 ways to concentrate better

The success of your business idea depends on how much you put in to it. With constant distractions it can often be hard to concentrate and get down to work.

1. Love what you do.

If you don’t love what you do, it’s going to be very difficult to concentrate on a daily basis.

2. Make it fun.

Working for yourself means you can make work as fun as you want it to be. The more fun it is and the more you enjoy it, the more focused you will be on making it happen.

3. Plan each day every day.

Constantly remind yourself of what you need to get done by the end of the day. Keep the list next to you, with urgent things circled in red. Tick each task off once completed, giving you a sense of satisfaction.

4. Apply time blocking.

Work on something little by little each day. You don’t need to complete everything in one go. Returning to a task after a night’s sleep can really help you view it in a fresh light too.

5. No emails or social media.

We’ve told you before and we’ll say it again – constant email checking and social media updates waste huge amounts of time. Give yourself a time slot each day for such tasks and do not dip in and out all day.

6. Listen to music.

Great for cutting out all external noise and conversations going on around you.

7. Fill up a water bottle.

Stay hydrated and avoid getting up and down for coffee, cigarette and snack breaks.

8. Reward yourself.

It’s important to keep track of what you’ve done because it motivates you to carry on. Reward yourself when you’ve achieved your daily goals.

9. Clean up your desk and get a good chair.

A clear desk equals a clear mind. Having a good chair is also crucial for your concentration levels.

10. Get some fresh air.

Don’t stay cooped up all day – get some fresh air and return to work once vitalised.
